How will you mark NNW 2018?

March / April 2018   Comments

National Nursing Week is May 7-13, with a flurry of activities in store. Many of the celebrations will feature the 2018 theme, #YESThisIsNursing.

Throughout the week, employers, provincial and territorial nursing associations and regulators, unions and nursing schools are hosting events to thank those in the nursing profession and raise the public’s awareness of the breadth of nursing. Here are a couple of the many events taking place:

  • The Grande Prairie and area nursing week committee is organizing an evening of food and entertainment on May 11 to celebrate all nurses and give back to the community. The committee’s 2017 event raised $10,000 for the HIV North Society. The charity of choice for 2018 is the Breakfast Club Youth Program.
  • Health Canada’s First Nations and Inuit Health Branch is holding its annual Award of Excellence in Nursing ceremony in Ottawa on May 7. Three exceptional RNs who provide care to First Nations and/or Inuit clients will be honoured.

Let Canadian Nurse and its readers know how you’re planning to mark National Nursing Week. Comment and describe your own activities to help inspire your nursing colleagues.
