Strengthen your ethical practice: Care at the end of life

End-of-life issues came to the forefront with the 2015 Supreme Court of Canada’s decision in Carter v. Canada, which removed the prohibition against physician-assisted death within specific parameters. Yet, assisted death is only one part of the broad area that end-of-life issues involve. This webinar explores these wider issues using different scenarios and real situations. Learn how each scenario’s unique circumstances and ethical and legal aspects call for different responses from nurses. Discover challenges and opportunities for professional growth when providing end-of-life care.

Framework for the Practice of Registered Nurses in Canada

Updated from the 2007 version, the framework promotes a common understanding of RN practice among nurses, students and stakeholders. Given the large number of regulated and unregulated care providers in Canada, it is essential for policy-makers, decision-makers and employers to clearly understand RN competencies and contributions as well as to know when RN care is the most appropriate.

Created through a national advisory group and consultation process, the framework is a resource for RNs as they work with others in planning a health-care system that is responsive to the needs and priorities of Canadians.
