Continuous education deal a win-win

CNA and the de Souza Institute are offering a special package of savings to CNA members seeking certification in oncology or hospice palliative care.

As part of the new offer, CNA members who sign up for one of the online de Souza Institute certification study groups will get a discount on their 2016 certification exam in oncology or hospice palliative care.

The de Souza Institute is a learning centre dedicated to improving cancer care through support for excellence in oncology and hospice palliative care nursing. The organization is known for its rigorous certification study groups and it offers a continuing education pathway for RNs to achieve a “de Souza Nurse” designation. To further support nurses who have achieved certification, the de Souza Institute is offering a 10 per cent reduction to all CNA members towards any de Souza Institute course.

With this bundled package, the two associations are expanding their relationship. “The offer is meant to further support oncology and hospice palliative care RNs as they pursue their education journey,” explains Lucie Vachon, a nurse advisor at the CNA Certification Program.

The bundled package includes:

  • the de Souza online study group with access to facilitator, exam reference book, unit summaries and quizzes
  • a one-day symposium and mock exam, hosted by the de Souza Institute
  • a 15 per cent reduction on the 2016 CNA certification exam fee for those who participate in de Souza certification study groups (CNA members also get their regular certification program discount)
  • a 10 per cent reduction on any de Souza Institute course

“We are excited to work with CNA to support certification in our efforts to help nurses keep pace with the vast amounts of emerging technology and knowledge, so that nurses can provide optimal care to patients and their families,” says Mary Jane Esplen, executive director of the de Souza Institute.

Visit desouzainstitute.com to get prices and register for courses or study groups. Note: RNs who are not yet CNA members can join CNA to take advantage of this offer.
